Definition

Combination of factors which enable an individual to progress towards or get into employment, to stay in employment and to progress during his/her career.

Comment:

The employability of an individual depends on:

  • his/her personal attributes (including adequacy of knowledge and skills);
  • the way these personal attributes are presented on the labour market;
  • economic and social policies (incentives and opportunities offered to update and validate his/her knowledge, skills and competences);
  • the economic context.
