Technician's Diploma (Diplôme de technicien - DT)
Adults who discover or rediscover a desire to learn a trade or profession or change their professional prospects can obtain a DT by attending a sandwich course under an adult apprenticeship contract provided the admission requirements are fulfilled.
The DT aims at very advanced vocational training so that the learner may directly enter working life.

Adults who wish to complete their general secondary education can also obtain a technician's diploma through validation of non-formal and informal learning (Validation des acquis de l’expérience - VAE).
Adult apprenticeship
In the framework of the adult appenticeship, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old,
- Have left the initial school system (or initial apprenticeship contract) at least one year ago,
- Have been affiliated with the Luxembourg Joint Social Security Centre (Centre commun de la sécurité sociale – CCSS) for at least 12 months, based on at least 16 hours per week.
Training proposed under adult apprenticeship contract is structured as a sandwich course:
- Training at school in one of the secondary schools offering the DT
- Modules in a training provider to be gained through the job performed in the undertaking with which the candidate has concluded an apprenticeship contract. The undertaking must be entitled to train apprentices.
Applicants for the adult apprenticeship must submit their application in person to the Vocational Guidance Service of the Employment agency (ADEM). The application is submitted to the Advisory Committee for a decision: the applicant will be informed of this decision by letter. If the application is successful, the adult apprentice having found a company to train with, contacts the Vocational Guidance Service of the ADEM to obtain the required documents to enter into the apprenticeship contract.
The adult apprenticeship contract may only be concluded between 16 July and 1 November of the apprenticeship year.
Class attendance is conditional on the language skills required by the training.
