Ziele

This module enables participants to define and implement a procurement strategy aligned with the organisation's business objectives. It provides the methods and tools needed to analyse supplier markets and make informed sourcing decisions. Participants will learn how to incorporate commercial, risk and sustainability considerations into their procurement decisions. By combining strategic analysis with practical implementation tools, this module strengthens participants' ability to deliver and sustain procurement performance over the long term.
This module is part of the Building Procurement Excellence: A 5-Step Development Framework.

By the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and select the most appropriate strategic sourcing levers.
  • Make informed procurement decisions by considering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and market constraints.
  • Assess risks and strengthen security of supply.
  • Integrate regulatory and sustainability requirements into the procurement strategy.
  • Establish relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve procurement performance.

Inhalt

  • Define the appropriate strategic sourcing levers: select between local, global or multi-sourcing approaches based on business needs and market opportunities
  • Assess sourcing options using TCO: move from analysis to strategy by applying the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach to decide whether to standardise, secure supply, or re-open competition
  • Understand supplier market dynamics: analyse market structures (monopoly, competitive markets and market concentration), assess negotiation power and identify potential alternatives through benchmarking
  • Structure the operational implementation plan: master the four stages of the strategy (analysis, challenge, decision-making and preparation) by using management tools such as RACI, project planning and budgeting
  • Anticipate and mitigate procurement risks: identify supply continuity and non-compliance risks (including PPM-related risks) and apply criticality assessment processes to define appropriate mitigation measures
  • Integrate sustainability and regulatory requirements: apply ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria and European regulations (such as CSRD) from the strategy definition phase onwards and incorporate them into evaluation framework
  • Manage performance through key performance indicators (KPIs): define SMART objectives and monitor results using dashboards covering savings, ROI, OTIF performance and maverick spend control (off-contract purchasing)

Zertifikat, Diplom

At the end of the training, participants will receive a certificate of achievement issued by the House of Training.
