Objectifs

Electronic archiving is currently a hot topic in Luxembourg..The government's commitment to establishing the country as a 'European safe for digital data' has not only given rise to some of the world's most sophisticated data centers but has also introduced the concept of PSDC (digitisation or archiving service providers).

A unique legislation, the only one of its kind globally, governs these service providers in Luxembourg. It is based on ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27002, the main standards in the information security field. This technical regulation lays the foundation for a vision of the digitisation and electronic archiving. Above all, It provides companies with an opportunity to be certified and recognised as a provider who complies with best practices for digitising of analogue-sensitive information, and preserving of business-critical digital information (referred to as records).
Concerning the digital and data storage aspects, the European regulation eIDAS (electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market) regarding digital identity and its services provides unique perspectives for process simplification. However, many questions remain.

Despite the existing electronic tools, paper continues to play an important role in our society, being considered by many companies as the primary means of communication (internal and external). Digitisation and electronic archiving may seem out of reach due to their perceived complexity, especially for handling sensitive information such as contracts or records).

By the end of this course, participants will:

  • get a general knowledge of the principles and processes of digitisation and electronic archiving, with a focus on the concept of PSDC at both legal and organisational levels;
  • gain an understanding of the contribution of digital signatures and the services covered by the European regulation eIDAS.
