• Speaking
  • Use simple phrases and sentences to describe people, places, daily routines, and personal experiences. Ask and answer straightforward questions on familiar topics (e.g., family, hobbies, work, shopping) Participate in short conversations in predictable everyday situations (e.g., at the store, at the doctor’s office) Express likes, dislikes, preferences and basic opinions using simple structuresUse basic linking words (and, but, because, then) to connect ideas in speech.
• Listening
  • Understand phrases and expressions related to areas of personal relevance (e.g., basic information about self, family, shopping, local geography, employment) Catch the main idea in short, clear, and slow conversations or announcements. Follow simple directions or instructions if spoken slowly and clearlyIdentify key vocabulary and expressions in everyday conversations.
• Reading
  • Understand short and simple texts (e.g., emails, advertisements, menus, notices) Read personal letters or messages and identify general meaning and details. Follow step-by-step instructions or directions in a familiar context. Guess the meaning of unknown words from the context and visuals.
• Writing
  • Write short messages and personal notes (e.g., to describe a weekend, invite someone, thank someone) Fill out basic forms with personal details (e.g., name, address, nationality) Write simple sentences and short paragraphs using basic vocabulary and grammar. Use basic punctuation and capitalization correctly.
