The particular aim of the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers (ECJL) which is part of the EIPA, is to improve training in European law for judges, lawyers, officials at the European institutions and legal experts from the Member States of the European Union and from countries that have applied for accession to the EU. The ECJL offers training programmes on the interpretation and application of European law that are intended to provide inspiration and practical working tools.

By analysing a selection of key rulings from different areas of EU law, the conference will enable you to understand how a number of fundamental decisions rendered by the Court in the course of the preceding months may potentially impact the legal development of the EU. Beyond the specific details of each case, the conference will also strive to identify general legal trends as well as potential directions for the future evolution of the Court’s case law.

The European Institute of Public Administration in Luxembourg (EIPA Luxembourg) has organised this event every year for more than two decades. This annual conference reviews and comments on a selected number of judicial decisions issued by the Court of Justice of the European Union during the past 12 months. These judicial decisions are regarded as significant because:

they offer a first-time interpretation of certain EU legal instruments;
they offer a new meaning to existing legal rules;
they adapt or re-examine past jurisprudence.

You will gain insight into key rulings of the Court of Justice of the EU from the past year. You will learn how recent decisions interpret or reshape EU law, identify broader legal trends, and explore their impact on EU legal development and policy implementation.

The various sessions proposed by the conference will be conducted by experts providing presentations on key topics. All sessions will be followed by Q&A sessions allowing for the exchange of ideas, and discussion time where participants will have the opportunity to share professional experiences.
