Who is organising this training course?

I am a trilingual Learning Professional located in Luxembourg, with 30 years of experience and a proven track record in industry, academia and consulting. My observation is that technical skills get people hired, but the so-called soft-skills are what allows them to develop their maximum impact. My conviction is that people skills and managerial skills are learnable and teachable. My passion is making breakthrough learning happen through enjoyable training sessions and professional coaching.

What are the aims or the skills being targeted?

This session covers the principles of assertive communication and uses plenty of role-play to improve participants’ ability to:

  • Distinguish between submissive, aggressive and assertive behavior
  • Explain the advantage of an assertive approach
  • Communicate their needs in an acceptable and clear way

What does the training course cover?

Workplaces are full of competing priorities, strong personalities and uncomfortable conversations. Being too passive or submissive creates frustration. Being aggressive damages relationships. Assertiveness is the better alternative. It helps professionals speak clearly, set boundaries and defend their position without unnecessarily creating conflict.

Agenda of the session:

  • Self-assessment
  • Defining Assertiveness
  • Basic techniques (body language, “and”, one reason)
  • Advanced techniques (broken record, hands tied, acknowledge)
  • Conclusion

What teaching methods are used?

interactive, participative, informal

What course materials are provided?

Course materials are provided in pdf format after the training.
