Presentation of the Diplom+ training course

Diplom+ is a short-term training course aimed at young people who, having obtained a classical or general secondary school leaving diploma, a technician's diploma or equivalent, are neither enrolled in higher education nor in employment, and do not yet have any plans for the coming months.

Diplom+ helps to develop skills and improve the chances of success. It is an alternative training course designed to provide the skills needed for working life whilst looking for a job or preparing to enrol in higher education.

Structure

The course, taught in Luxembourgish, French, German and English, lasts one semester, with a minimum weekly duration of 24 hours.

Generally, two training sessions are scheduled:

  • autumn session: from October to March;
  • spring session: from February to July.

Courses are held at three different locations in Luxembourg:

  • Esch-Belval
  • Luxembourg
  • Ettelbruck

The course consists of a common core curriculum, a package to choose from and a practical project


  • Common core curriculum:
    1. Vocational guidance
    2. Pre-employment preparation
    3. Presentation and communication
    4. Time and stress management
    5. First aid
    6. First aid – mental health
    7. Practical life skills
    8. AI – the basics
    9. Learning how to learn
    10. Raising awareness for the environment
  • Package to choose from:
    • Package 1: Management (project management, change management, leadership, etc.)
    • Package 2: Digital (cybersecurity, AI, marketing digital, etc.)
    • Package 3: Art (interior design, graffiti, manga drawing, etc.)
    • Package 4: Social (social careers, teaching, inclusion, etc.)
  • Practical project:
    A work placement and an exploration of different careers provide hands-on, real-world experience and enable students to apply the skills they have developed during their training.

Successful completion of each module entitles the participant to a certificate, subject to the following conditions:

  • to have an attendance rate of at least 80% for the module in question;
  • to have passed the final assessment.
Exception: the First aid module requires an attendance rate of 100%.
