What are the aims or the skills being targeted?

Macedonian is the official and widely spoken language in the Republic of Macedonia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia as opposed to the historic former region of Macedonia in Greece. The language is very closely related to Bulgarian (both are from the Slavic language family and use the Cyrillic alphabet).

Good news! If you can speak or understand Macedonian, you would also be understood in Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is quite useful because the current border runs along mountain ranges that separate the Republic of Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Kosovo and Serbia.

The folk world of Macedonians of Slavic origin, dating from the 6th century, is full of magic and superstition, beautiful female demons and dragons (Zmey or Lamya in Macedonian). Their ancient singing tradition is built around these legendary demons and heroes!

CECRL - Level A1: what are we talking about?

Anyone who has reached this level:

Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people
he/she knows and things he/she has. Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is
prepared to help.
