What are the aims or the skills being targeted?

Science-Fiction und Fantasy haben nachweislich europäische Wurzeln, u.a. mit Filmklassikern wie Metropolis (DE, 1927) oder Die Frau im Mond (DE, 1929). Sie wurden jedoch vor allem in Nordamerika weiterentwickelt und werden vornehmlich als Hollywood-Genres angesehen. Europäische Filmemacher*innen haben diese Genres jedoch seit der Nachkriegszeit auf einzigartige Weise neu interpretiert und dabei nachdenkliche und visuell beeindruckende Werke geschaffen. Sie reflektieren zeitgenössische soziale und politische Themen. Begleitet von Auszügen aus ikonischen Filmen erkunden wir die Landschaft des europäischen Sci-Fi- und Fantasy-Kinos.
Die Konferenz wird von Gérard Kraus, Englischlehrer und Präsident der Science Fiction and Fantasy Society Luxembourg, geleitet.
