Goals

This fully online certificate EQF Level 6 program equips students with a strong theoretical and practical foundation in Robotics, Autonomous Systems & Intelligent Drone Technologies and provides a coherent pathway into the design, operation, and governance of modern autonomous platforms. The program serves prospective instructors, students, and professionals who wish to develop a strong foundation in robotics, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), sensor-rich platforms, and swarm intelligence.
Robotics is treated as the foundational discipline, introducing core concepts such as automated actuation, control, perception, and intelligent behavior. Building on this base, the program scrutinises drones as a prominent class of aerial robots, examining their hardware, software, and coordinated deployment in real-world environments. The two-year curriculum (three terms per year) culminates in a capstone project, where students tackle a complete robotics challenge, integrating perception, control, and decision-making.

Contents

The EBU certificate is designed to:

  • Ground learners in the fundamentals of robotics and autonomous systems, including kinematics, sensing, and control.
  • Develop practical understanding of drone operation, regulation, and safety frameworks for unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • Build capability in autonomous flight logic and mission planning for aerial robots.
  • Introduce integrated sensing, including GPS, cameras, LiDAR, and environmental sensors, as a basis for robotics.
  • Explore multi-robot and multi-drone coordination through swarm concepts, distributed control, and communication.
  • Address AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity as enablers and safeguards for intelligent, networked robotic systems.
  • Position learners to engage with emerging developments such as quantum-enhanced computation and future autonomous architectures.
