What are the aims or the skills being targeted?

If you learn Icelandic you will have a very good understanding of "Old Norse", the mother of all Scandinavian languages. Icelandic has remained more or less intact since medieval times, and the texts from the 12th century can be understood even now.

From ancient Icelandic sagas to the haunting music of modern Björk, Icelanders celebrate their culture and protect the purity of the language.

Due to its complex inflection system lost from other Scandinavian languages, it is more difficult to learn. However, once you have a basic knowledge of Icelandic, the others are incredibly easy to learn!
