Everyone working with Requirements Engineering, Business Analysis, software and systems development, who is demanding in terms of quality and professionalism, should strive for it.

Have a professional experience in a technical project or a design office (> 1 year). There are no prerequisites to applying for the Foundation Level Exam

The Foundation Level addresses the advanced beginner in Requirements Engineering and provides the core knowledge of this topic. The Foundation Level encompasses the elicitation of requirements with appropriate documentation, requirements verification and validation as well as their management throughout the end-to-end product life cycle.

The goal of this course is to provide a full understanding of the fundamental principles of requirements engineering and to enhance the knowledge and practical experience in the domains of requirements engineering and requirements management. Each participant will be faced with the following specific targets:

• Getting familiar with the terminology of Requirements Engineering/Business Analysis and Requirements Management.
• Improvement of both requirements engineering and requirements management within the project and within the organization.
• Getting familiar with the current international standards and the industry’s best practices.
• Preparation for the official exam at the end of the third day.

• Requirements Engineering Fundamentals: concepts, principles and terminology of requirements engineering
• System and Context: understanding the context, identifying stakeholders and defining the system scope
• Requirements Elicitation: identifying, gathering and analysing needs and requirements
• Elicitation Techniques: techniques for discovering, clarifying and analysing requirements
• Requirements Documentation and Specification: structuring, documenting and specifying requirements
• Requirements Validation and Negotiation: validating requirement quality, resolving conflicts and reaching consensus
• Requirements Modelling: using models to represent and analyse requirements
• Requirements Management: organization, traceability, prioritization, change management and maintenance of requirements
• Requirements Engineering Tools: tool categories and their use to support requirements engineering activities
• Practical Application and Certification: practical exercises and preparation for the IREB CPRE Foundation Level certification
