You are a company manager and you want to understand and learn how to classify products and services in order to best carry out your deposit? You are responsible for communication and marketing and you are wondering how to carry out your own brand searches in the databases in a relevant way?
  • If so, you should registrer for our free training course "How to do your own research in trademark databases" organized by IPIL GIE. Pablo Mohr, intellectual property expert at IPIL GIE, will present the main principles of trademark research and answer all your questions. The training room is equipped with computers on which participants can immediately put into practice the elements of the presentation.

  • Reminder of the main principles in trademark law which have an influence on the logic of trademark research: territoriality, speciality
  • Presentation of the Nice Classification (International Classification of Goods and Services for the Registration of Trademarks)
    • Practical exercise: finding products and/or services in the Nice Classification
  • Overview of the main public databases on trademarks
  • How to read a result and a trademark registration (to understand if the trademark is registered, if there have been oppositions and if so by whom and with what result, to know how to read an international application, …)
    • Practical exercise: reading a search result
  • How to conduct a prior art search and find identical trademarks: same sign for same goods and services
    • Practical exercise: carry out a search for identical trademark
  • How to conduct a prior art search and find similar trademark: risk of confusion, what are the elements of assessment?
    • Practical exercise: carry out a search for similar trademark
  • Limitations of Research and other ways to expand research
