From personalised career coaching to practical audit case studies, students at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) at the University of Luxembourg engaged with professionals from Luxembourg’s financial sector through two recent initiatives.

Students from the Master in Finance and Economics and the Master in Accounting and Audit explored career paths, learned about recruitment practices, and gained a better understanding of professional life in Luxembourg.

The ABBL Career Management Days focused on preparing students for the job market. At the same time, a separate session with BDO Luxembourg, one of the largest firms of accountants, auditors and consultants in the country, introduced students to the audit profession through exchanges with practitioners and practical exercises.

Preparing for the Luxembourg job market with ABBL

On 19 and 26 October 2026, students from the Master in Finance and Economics attended two Career Management Days organised in collaboration with the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association (ABBL) and financial sector professionals.

The programme combined an introduction to Luxembourg’s labour market with workshops on CV preparation, recruitment processes and professional networking. Students explored different aspects of preparing for employment, from presenting their qualifications to building professional relationships.

Following the workshops, industry professionals and mentors provided students with individual career and CV coaching sessions. Seventeen mentors contributed to the initiative, reviewing students’ CVs and sharing advice drawn from their professional experience. The individual format allowed students to receive feedback relevant to their profiles and career interests, complementing the broader guidance provided during the workshops.
