Paths of Harmony: Chinese Philosophy and Culture - Débutant (SCI-CULC-1)

This course offers an accessible introduction to the core philosophies of Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism—the three pillars of traditional Chinese thought. We will explore their fundamental outlooks on life and the universe: Confucianism's focus on social harmony and moral virtue, Daoism's emphasis on aligning with nature's spontaneous way, and Buddhism's teachings on impermanence and inner peace.
Throughout the class, we will draw comparisons with Western cultural perspectives to highlight both universal human truths and distinct cultural lenses. Each session will include a brief lecture followed by guided small-group discussions, encouraging students to engage critically with these ancient wisdoms and their relevance today.
