Goals

This course aims to reinforce the expertise and skills of CGOs to better fulfil their role, contributing to enhanced corporate governance and high-performance boards.

Contents

The Board Simulation for CGOs aims to develop and enhance communication and leadership skills with practical strategies for addressing challenging professional situations.

After a short introduction, the course will focus on case studies that will be worked on in small groups, followed by a joint debriefing and sharing of best practice.

These case studies will be structured into four scenarios:

1. Chair/CGO/CEO Relationship: A solid relationship between these three players is essential for good corporate governance. The CGO should report to the Chair and have access to both the Chair and the CEO. The CGO must possess the necessary skills to nurture this relationship.

2. CGO as Communicator: The CGO plays a key role in ensuring communication between board members and executive management. While this is frequently the case in large corporate groups, it can be more challenging in the context of conflicting shareholder priorities or dysfunctional boards.

3. Peer Pressure: The CGO's role often involves balancing local and group interests. It is crucial for the CGO to effectively manage relationships with all stakeholders.

4. Building a Team: CGOs often have a very small support team. How can a CGO build team skills and develop efficient processes in order to deliver high quality advice to the board?

Certificate, diploma

A certificate of participation will be provided to the participants at the completion of the course.
