Prerequisites

Successful completion of the modules "Project management essentials" (C6025) or proof of equivalent certified knowledge.

Goals

  • Master problem-solving tools and being able to pragmatically apply them.
  • Deepen complements of knowledge in the follow-up of a project.
  • Understand the logic of improving a process.
  • Learn teambuilding spirit.
  • Understand the value of visual communication and its fundamental keys.
  • Understand the basics of Lean and 6 sigma methodologies.

Contents

Weeks 1 and 2: Mastering a process

Understand the structure of a process. Mapping a process, breaking it down into steps, to highlight its dysfunctions.
Be able to measure the performance of a process in terms of delays (TaktTime, Cycle Time, LeadTime) and quality (RTY).
Identify the wastes generated throughout the process, in order to discover its added value for the customer.
A large part of the course will be devoted to exercises.

Weeks 3 and 4: Identify causes of dysfunctions and select solutions

A panel of quality tools will be discussed:

  • to identify root causes (brainstorming, ishikawa, pareto, AMDEC...)
  • to find the best solutions (waste killings, 5S...)
Weeks 5 and 6: KaiZen workshop

2 courses will be grouped in 1, to organize a workshop in teams. Through a concrete case, participants will apply the previous 4 weeks lessons.
The participants will work in "KaiZen mode", working methodology resulting from Lean Management, dynamic and participative.

Weeks 7 and 8: the control of the gaps

Back and deepening of PERT and GANTT tools.
How to effectively use these 2 project management tools, especially when there are delays.
PERT: manage the "float", change the critical path
GANTT: Manage resources. computer tools

Week 9: Visual Management

A project manager, and any manager in general, must know and be able to master his communication.
The indicators are not constructed in the same way according to the persons to whom one addresses (his team, his hierarchy, the customers) and must take account of the frequency of use (daily, weekly, during the reviews of project).
What is a good indicator?
Know how to build a relevant dashboard.

Week 10: Lean and 6Sigma

The module will end with an initiation to 2 methodologies
History and development of methodologies.
Break the paradigms (lean = cost cutting; 6Sigma = complicated) to make them audible and clear.
Understand what they are for and use them.
