DESCRIPTION

European legislation defines standards and their application as voluntary, and each organization is free to use them to develop new services, skills, procedures or products. Although this concept is one of the key concepts of the European single market, it exists some case where the technical requirements contained in standards support legal requirements provided by European or national legislation, and consequently their application may become recommended or even mandatory. The obligation to comply with standards may also arise in a contractual context. This course will provide to participants the knowledge to understand the role of standards in these particular situations.
