Prerequisites

The course is designed for profesionnals with a previous DNS experience or responsible for the DNS service, and looking to acquire knowledge to implement DNSSEC in their organisation.

Goals

After a brief review of main DNS concepts, this training will introduce DNSSEC principles. In a hands-on technical workshop, participants will then acquire a practical experience of what DNSSEC is and how it works so that they will be able to implement DNSSEC themselves onto their own DNS infrastructure.

  • Understand DNS and DNSSEC principles
  • Implement DNSSEC in simple and complex architectures with standard open-source software
  • Manage DNSSEC cryptographic keys (roll-over process)
  • Validation and troubleshooting of DNSSEC signature
  • Acquire DNSSEC best practices

The Domain Name System (DNS) is one of the core elements of the internet, as a human-machine interface for surfing the Internet translating IP addresses into human readable domain names, but it is by far more. This hands-on session will introduce to securing DNS and explain the concepts of DNSSEC in practice.
