About the TEVA study

The longitudinal study Transition École - Vie active (TEVA) (transition from school to working life) carried out by the INFPC's Training Observatory throws light on the start of students' careers from the time they leave the school system. The start of a career is analysed in terms of the vocational integration of young people and the quality of the jobs they hold.

The TEVA study aims to enable public stakeholders and social partners to better identify the training courses of the future and the policies to support youth employment.

Consult the latest TEVA publication and the indicators for the first year of working life of young people having completed initial vocational training.

Early career of young people on leaving initial vocational training

The TEVA study by the Training Observatory is interested in the vocational integration of young people who have completed a full course organised within the context of initial vocational training.

The differences or similarities in the young people’s paths during the year after they leave secondary school are highlighted according to whether or not they obtained their diploma before entering working life, according to gender and according to the certificate or the diploma obtained.

For each reference year, the results presented demonstrate the impact of educational success, gender, as well as the certificates and diplomas obtained on the access to and retention of employment as much as on the quality of the jobs held.

The results must be qualified according to the trade or profession that the young people were preparing for while they were training. The interactive TEVA barometer shows access to employment by trade and by profession.

Vocational integration barometer: employment prospects for diploma holders by training

The purpose of the interactive barometer of vocational integration known as "TEVA" is to evaluate the integration into employment, the quality of the jobs held, and the adequacy of training-employment for people holding a diploma with respect to initial vocational training, by trade, by profession and by training.

The range of situations experienced by the young people that were studied over the year after they left school can be understood using a set of 22 indicators. The use of these indicators makes it possible to make comparisons by training course according to four dimensions:

  • leaving school with the number of school-leavers monitored
  • the first job after leaving school including information on access to the first job, the average duration of the first job, the first permanent full-time employment contract, and the average hourly wage for the first employment
  • employment over the course of the year after leaving school with indicators relating to the time spent in employment, permanent employment throughout the course of the year, employment under a permanent employment contract or part-time employment, employment paid at more than 1.5 times the social minimum wage for an unskilled worker
  • employment one year after leaving school in terms of rates of employment, employment on a permanent contract, full-time employment, the average hourly rate, or the situation of being neither in employment nor studying again after one year
