A detailed understanding of the procedures, practices and case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) is a prerequisite to successfully represent a case before the CJEU. The seminar provides the necessary insights and practical skills related to one of the key procedures of the Court of Justice of the European Union: the action for annulment.

Inhalt

  • Enhance your knowledge on how to challenge EU measures successfully before the General Court of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and deepen your understanding on the annulment actions.
  • The seminar will specifically deal with the annulment actions initiated before the General Court of the European Union, the only procedure where private individuals are parties before the CJEU and can directly challenge EU acts. The seminar will map out the standing rules applicable for private individuals to become parties of the proceeding. Due account will be taken what EU acts can be challenged before the CJEU.
  • On the basis of the Rules of Procedure of the General Court the seminar will discuss specific procedural issues ie. submissions, interim measure, appeals that may be crucial for the success of the procedure in a detailed fashion.
  • The seminar will provide first hand expertise as to how to prepare the written materials to be submitted to the court and the how to plead orally during the hearing before the court.
  • A visit to the Court of Justice of the European Union is included in the program where participants attend a hearing of a particular case.
