Prerequisites

To be eligible for the programme you will need to have 5 years of management or equivalent professional experience and an MBA or Master’s degree from a recognised academic institution.

Goals

To meet the needs of doctoral managers who cannot participate in face-to-face seminars, the Business Science Institute has set up an e-learning platform allowing doctoral students to follow Executive DBA courses remotely.

Organization mode: e-Learning

The remote DBA is flexible: doctoral students can start at any time.
All resources are accessible via the Internet (videos, articles, books, data analysis software, forums), allowing students to work remotely at their own pace. Each doctoral student has the opportunity to interact directly with his supervisor or the scientific advisor of the Business Science Institute.

Teaching methods:

Registered students will be advised on a progressive educational path of work on videos. In addition, personalized follow-up will be provided by a referent professor responsible for advising the doctoral student-manager at a distance, monitoring his progress, clarifying his thesis subject and identifying his future thesis director. Monitoring is done remotely by email, Skype, phone.
Doctoral students-managers must attend an annual international seminar which takes place the last week of September in Luxembourg (Château de Wiltz) or in France (Paris).

This international seminar includes:

  • meetings between doctors and doctoral students
  • thesis monitoring seminars
  • methodology workshops
  • individual meetings with teachers
  • public thesis defense
  • the graduation ceremony

Course materials

The Business Science Institute videotapes the face-to-face seminars of its professors.
The videos of these lessons are then cut into 20 minutes to 1 hour sequences comprising both presentations by the professors and discussions with the students.

There is a syllabus for each course with readings and PowerPoint presentations. For each course sequence, the teachers specified a title of the sequence as well as key words. A search engine allows you to find the video sequences by keyword or by teacher

Admissions Process

The application and selection processes follow the following protocol:

  • Contact the Executive DBA’s scientific advisor and provide him with your CV. A remote informal interview will then take place. This initial contact will yield either a positive or negative opinion. Please keep in mind that this opinion is not a final admission decision, but simply a recommendation. It is meant above all to discourage applications that are unlikely to be accepted in the later stages of the admissions process.
  • For this first step, please send your CV to cv@business-science-institute.com
  • At the beginning of your CV, please write clearly:
    • your current professional situation (name of your firm, position, country)
    • total years of managerial experience
    • the last and highest qualifications you obtained
  • If the opinion given is favourable, you will then be asked to complete your application and submit it electronically. Once your application has been successfully submitted, the following steps will be taken:
  • Two weeks after the submission of your application, a formal remote interview will take place with an academic coordinator (senior member of faculty).
  • Three weeks after the submission of your application, our international scientific committee will review your application.
  • Three weeks after the submission of your application, you will receive our final decision.

To help you with the application process and in understanding what is involved in studying for an Executive DBA, we strongly recommend you read the book “How to successfully complete you DBA“, written by Michel Kalika, President of Business Science Institute.
