Adults who discover or rediscover a desire to learn a trade or change their professional prospects may obtain the aircraft mechanic Technician's Diploma, category B, through a sandwich course (adult apprenticeship training).

Adults who wish to complete their secondary technical education can also obtain a technician's diploma through validation of non-formal and informal learning (Validation des acquis de l’expérience - VAE).

Adult apprenticeship

Training to obtain this Technician's Diploma is certified by an international EASA 'Aircraft Maintenance Licence' (AML) of category B which allows its holder to work in all the EU member states and in all the member countries of EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).

Admission requirements
  • Have an apprenticeship contract with an air carrier (Luxair, Cargolux, Air Rescue),

  • Hold a Vocational and Technical Training Certificate (Certificat d’Aptitude Technique et Professionnelle - CATP/DAP) as an industrial or
    maintenance mechanic or an energy electronics technician
    or
    having passed year 6 of secondary education (equivalent to a 12e) in the technician's scheme, in the mechanical or electrotechnical divisions,

  • Have good command of the English language as the training is entirely in English.

Structure of the training

In-company training is combined with classes at the private technical Secondary School Emile Metz (Lycée technique privé Emile Metz - LTPEM) and lasts 2 years.

  • 1st year: 4 days/week at LTPEM
  • 2nd year: 2,5 days/week at LTPEM

Training at school (LTPEM) for the type A licence lasts one year and leads to a Professional Competence Diploma (Diplôme d'aptitude professionnelle - DAP).
