Benefiting from the support provided by the European Commission

The Erasmus+ programme is the European Commission’s new programme in favour of education, training, youth, and sport.

01 Purpose

Erasmus+ focuses on three key areas:

  • individual mobility for learning purposes

  • cooperation and partnership in favour of innovation and the sharing of experiences

  • support for reforms in youth policies

02 Example

Nathalie wants to acquire initial work experience

Nathalie is 19 years old, and a pupil at the agricultural technical secondary school (Lycée Technique Agricole - LTA). As part of her secondary studies, she wants to acquire initial work experience abroad. She would like to take up a two-month placement at a riding school in Dublin.

Nathalie contacts the placement office at her school to organise the placement. Thanks to a mobility project at the LTA, Nathalie benefits from a scholarship amounting to 6,000 euros which will go towards financing her travel and her stay in Ireland.

03 Beneficiaries

Education and training sectors

The beneficiaries are institutions active in the education and training sectors, which are thus able to allow their staff and learners to benefit from learning mobility in Europe and take part in partnership projects contributing to the development of education and training practices in Europe:

  • teaching staff and other professionals active in school and higher education, vocational training, or adult education, for lifelong training courses, seminars, teaching missions, etc.;

  • students and young graduates, for mobility to study or undertake a placement elsewhere in Europe;

  • pupils for periods of secondary education in a different country;

  • young people in vocational training and young graduates, for placements elsewhere in Europe.

  • Youth sector

  • 'Erasmus+/Youth in Action', the section specially devoted to the non-formal education of young people, is available for:
    • young people between the ages of 13 and 30, with no conditions regarding their training;

    • organisations and informal groups active in the youth sector;

    • professional and/or voluntary youth workers, with no age limit.
